A sustainable activewear company called Girlfriend Collective is on a mission to provide "sustainable activewear for individuals who care — care about other people, care about how their clothes are manufactured, and care about making a difference through their purchasing power."
Girlfriend Collective is renowned for filling a void in the activewear market by offering high-quality, inclusive-of-size clothing made using environmentally friendly methods. The athletic company has won accolades for fostering women's self-confidence and body positivity and is highlighted in prestigious media, including Business Insider, Vice, Bustle, and Refinery29.
Guang and Ellie Dinh, a husband-and-wife team, created Girlfriend Collective in Seattle in 2016. This couple was determined to address a need in the market for high-quality, reasonably priced sportswear made in an ethical and environmentally responsible manner.
The business makes its clothing using recycled, post-consumer plastic drinking bottles. To be exact, 25 bottles for every pair of leggings!
They kept almost 9 million bottles out of landfills and the ocean in 2020. Over 21 million gallons of water were saved because of this eco-friendly strategy. Girlfriend Collective appears to be the eco-conscious and active woman's dream with stats like those.
Pros
- A broad selection of clothing, bottoms, socks, outerwear, and accessories may be found in activewear.
- Although this variety isn't for everyone, hand-dyed clothing comes in lovely and distinctive colour variations.
- Ethical and socially conscious brand
- Size inclusive with options ranging from XXS to 6XL High-quality clothing at reasonable rates, produced with environmentally friendly post-consumer plastic.
Cons
- Shipping is only available via their website to the US and Australia, while it is available from other retailers.

Review Of The High-Rise Pocket Legging By Girlfriend Collective
The High-Rise Pocket Legging from Girlfriend Collective is the kind of fitness attire that works well for daily wear as well. The pants' many advantages include sweat-wicking capabilities and compression that encourages healthy blood flow.
They will withstand even the most rigorous squat workouts because of the fabric's ability to hug every curve and avoid pilling and sheering. There are two inseam lengths, 5 fundamental colours, and 4 restricted colours for the High Rise Pocket Legging.
Review of Girlfriend Collective's Maternity Leggings
The maternity legging from Girlfriend Collective is made to expand with you. These maternity pant will keep you comfortable and supported throughout your entire pregnancy—and beyond. It is breathable, flexible, and versatile.
They'll embrace your bump wonderfully because you may choose to keep them high-waisted or roll the waistband down for a mid-rise style. The price of the Girlfriend Collective Maternity Legging is $88. It comes in 5 colours and 2 inseam lengths.
Girlfriend Collectives Recycled Products
Each pair of their leggings is constructed from fabric produced at Girlfriend Collective's Fair Trade plant in Taiwan using 25 recycled water bottles (79 per cent RPET).
Girlfriend Collective's facility is closely supervised by the Taiwanese government recycling authority to ensure that this is not the case for this business. Some "recycled" fabric manufacturers have been taking advantage of the loopholes by purchasing abandoned water bottles to churn out a bigger profit. Even though some of us choose to ignore uncomfortable facts conveniently, you always have a choice about where you spend your money. Girlfriend Collective's factory, for example, prohibits the use of forced labour or child labour, requires reasonable working hours and safe conditions, pays living wages, and permits unionisation of its employees.
Short Review of Girlfriend Collective's High-Rise Bike
Every cycling girl's wardrobe must include The Girlfriend Collective High-Rise Bike Short. With a naturally flattering fit, these shorts will take you from relaxing at the gym to running errands. They are squat-proof, compressive, and available with or without pockets.
This short length is currently quite in vogue, regardless of whether you ride a bike or not. For $48 (or $58 if you desire pockets), the Girlfriend Collective High-Rise Bike Short is offered in 6 basic and 4 limited colour options.
Review of the Girlfriend Collective Bike Unitard
A mix between a sports bra and a bike short, the Girlfriend Collective Bike Unitard. Fashion and utility come together perfectly in this low-back unitard. This bestseller is easy to wear worry-free because it is both supportive and comfortable.
According to this Girlfriend Collective review, despite being exceedingly comfortable, the compressive unitard Bike may not be made to fit every body type. It won't fit if your body isn't perfectly proportioned, a client claimed.
Review Of The Girlfriend Collective R&R Hoodie
The cropped hoodie of your dreams is the Girlfriend Collective R&R Hoodie. This lightweight, flexible hoodie is perfect for lounging at home or going on a weekend getaway.
Butter-soft, quick-drying, and moisture-wicking—another triumph for Girlfriend Collective. It would go good with high-rise Girlfriend Collective leggings or a cute pair of denim and has a cute cropped length.
Girlfriend Collective's R&R Hoodie, which retails for $68 and comes in 5 hues, is available. It's "a steal for the versatility this hoodie has," said one reviewer.
Review Of The Girlfriend Collective Paloma Bra
The most popular bra in the line is The Girlfriend Collective Paloma Bra. While remaining soft and comfy, this racerback sports bra gives the ladies strong support.
The Paloma Bra has a long-line silhouette, which makes it a great match for the High-Rise Bike Short if you visit the product page for it.
This Girlfriend Collective bra costs $38 and comes in 4 limited colour options in addition to the 7 basic hues.
Review Of The Girlfriend Collective Thong
The Girlfriend Collective Thong is a timeless piece of body-hugging clothing. Both the High-Rise and Mid-Rise Thongs, which are both available, have a raw-cut waist and leg opening for concealing VPL (visible panty lines).
A moisture-wicking layer in this Girlfriend Collective underwear keeps you feeling dry and clean all day. A bonded tape waistband on the High-Rise Thong keeps your underwear in place all day.
This basic yet seductive thong costs $14 and comes in three basic colours. It is soft, stretchy, light, and breathable.
What Do Customers Have To Say About Girlfriend Collective?
This Girlfriend Collective review visited the company's website to learn what actual users had to say. All of the products on the website have a 5-star rating system, making it clear that they are well-regarded.
According to a review on Girlfriend Collective, "The Paloma Bra is my new favourite!
Although it is made of soft, flexible cotton, it has a supporting and comforting feeling of being somewhat tighter and compressive.
It's ideal for a variety of strenuous activities while also being cosy enough for relaxation.
The Compressive Leggings are also highly praised by customers, with one wearer exclaiming, "GF collective has done it again! I'm on my third pair and adore these midnight blue ones' colour. The material quality and general feel are excellent.
Should You Purchase These Girlfriend Collective Leggings Then?
You should, probably. What more could you ask for in your fitness attire? They are comfortable, environmentally friendly, and practical for many different types of exercises. They are far less expensive ($68) than many comparable models from other brands, and a percentage of the proceeds go to Healthy Seas. This group promotes marine life conservation and cleanup. They will therefore benefit both your morals and your workouts.

Compressive and unflattering for larger chests
Ethical, Beautiful
Absolutely love this brand!
Good quality but not functional

It has been 16 days since I order from…
Great company with ethical values
I've had my Girlfriend leggings for 6 years
Bad long term quality
Leggings look and feel amazing, but I’ve had massive pilling on two pairs after a few months of gentle use. I regret not waiting longer before making a repeat purchase. As mentioned before, the sports bras are really unflattering, especially when worn under a t-shirt.
No complaints from me!
I bought the cutest and warmest giant parka from here last winter and just recently received my order for a few undergarments. I was hesitant because the price is more than I normally pay but you can't argue with their sustainability statement, and these are my new favorite undies BY FAR. I'm curious about the negative reviews pertaining to customer service which I can't speak to as I haven't had to deal with customer service yet, but my experiences have been excellent so far.
not great sports bras...
I gave 4 stars for part of the order, but I agree with another reviewer - the bras are not flattering. They squish your chest and it looks pretty unbecoming with a tshirt...maybe made to be worn just as is, without any shirt over them, or with a sweat jacket? i returned a size M and got an L (I'm at 36B bra) and it still squished my chest. Bummer They are comfortable, though!
Never received ordered items, they took my money though
I placed an order on 5/5/22, got a message that there was a 'delay at customs' and never got anymore tracking updates other than a label was created. I looked at tracking again on 6/1/22 and there was zero movement, says it's still waiting to be received by usps. I contacted GC customer service on 5/31 asking for an update and that I wanted a refund. The response was that the item was delayed at customs and would be shipping within the week, no reference to my request for a refund. Of course the items never shipped within the week because the package is most likely lost. But you think GC cares? Nope. I reached out again, this time requesting a refund asap. They have not responded. I'm literally being ignored. They took my $160 could care less whether or not I actually receive the items I paid for. After leaving a bad review I noticed there only good reviews on the website. I'm pretty sure they are hiding a horrid customer service track record. I will NEVER purchase anything from them again and am actively pursuing a dispute with my card issuer. This is unbelievable customer service.
Some ‘customer service’
The ‘customer service’ seems unable to assist or do anything. Received confirmation from a person my order was cancelled, then another email saying there was a system glitch that didn’t cancel it. Never received any shipping notifications and then told the package was sent to the wrong centre. Too many things for a first time order, definitely my last order.
Obsessed with this brand
Obsessed with this brand! I swear at least 50% of my workout clothes are GC now and I'm not mad about it. The quality is honestly better than than Lulu but at a better price point, and made with recycled materials. Highly recommend the leggings and the sports bras.
they SAY you can return things, but
they SAY you can return things, but don't believe it. they have no phone number, apparently one extremely poor customer service person who is completely inept. they sent me no order confirmation, no packing slip, three different order numbers for one order. their return address is not the one listed on their site. how will they credit me with no return slip and three different order numbers? stay far away.
So far quite good
So far, the shipping has been piecemeal and has taken quite awhile. Email communication has been quite good though. The fleece pullover is really cute and I find the material very soft for recycled poly, as the texture of all of the clothes to be very soft. HOWEVER - beware of their sizing charts!! Their clothes run VERY SMALL. I would order at least a size up from normal....of not two. Also, their tops tend to be cut almost to be cropped tops..so if you don't want skin showing, then order a size up. The cuts of the tanks are very cute, but very cropped. They advertise with diverse body types but honestly, the clothes are kind of made for thin women with tight bodies....
Ordered a puffer on 11/23 from here for…
Ordered a puffer on 11/23 from here for their Black Friday sale online. It is now 12/13 and ups doesn’t know where the package is they’re saying they handed the package to usps. Usps is saying they never received a package and ups still has it. GIRLFRIEND COLLECTIVE…. 👻👻👻. They don’t answer emails and they have no phone to contact. I suspect they sold out the puffer and didn’t bother refunding customers who’s orders they couldn’t fulfill. They just never got around to it and took the money and ran? Going through reviews on here it seems to be their common practice. Horrible business practices and no customer service
I absolutely love this brand
I absolutely love this brand. They make products out of recycled water bottles and pay their factory workers fair wages to work in safe environments. The first pair of leggings I had lasted over 5 years. I have just received the bike short, paloma bra and pocket leggings and they are so comfy. I know they will last for years to come! I love this company and their products.
If I could give this 0 stars I would
If I could give this 0 stars I would. The shipping has been a mess, I’ve never received my package and now customer service will not respond to my emails requesting a refund. Please do not order from this seller if you want to get you product or failing that get your money back. Absolutely unacceptable behavior.
Do not buy leggings if you have cellulite
Pros: My hoodie is comfy. Cons: Sports bra has no support, just compression. Bottom section of bra rolls. Like, it’s ok but I wouldn’t want to be seen in it. Big cons: Leggings reveal every flaw in your butt and legs. Every dimple. Every ripple. Exactly what a legging shouldn’t do, this does.
Gorgeous leggings
I have leggings which I love, they look and feel amazing. Great value for price. Really nice colours and very flattering. Only thing that’s disappointing is they are made in Vietnam despite selling to a Western market so the idea that they are sustainable is silly - another inauthentic brand using it as a marketing ploy unfortunately
Girlfriend leggings are the only pair of leggings I want/need
I am so amazed by my Girlfriend leggings. They look pretty much spanking new despite wearing them several times a week for the past 3 years. They are durable, flexible and keep shape really well. Even when I took a nasty tumble off my bike in an accident I had no scrapes or cuts on my legs. I'm sure if I'd been wearing any other leggings the material would have torn and so would've my skin too...
Very poor service- DO NOT BUY
Very poor service. They are listing products they do not have and when questioned they keep delaying the response They refund part cash when I pressed them for a refund. Take months to turn around for any answer.
Return at Your Own Risk!!!
As the review below mentioned, their customer service is AWFUL. They received my return over 3 weeks ago now and not a peep about processing the refund, despite my 3 attempts to follow up. Their products are great, but I don't think I'll be able to stomach buying from them again knowing that they owe me $100.
I ordered a puffer jacket a few days…
I ordered a puffer jacket a few days ago and they canceled my order without reason/explanation. Did not respond to my email inquiry. I didn't consent to the cancelation. When I reordered the original price I got was not honored.
the sweatshirt i ordered said it was…
the sweatshirt i ordered said it was made out of cotton, this material isn’t what i ordered. it is 100% polyester. the picture is completely different from what i got sent.
rabbit hole for a website
The two items i ordered did not fit me like they fit the models, even tho i did order per their sizing. I'm disappointed, however, I very much liked the feel of the fabric. I want to return the items, however, my account information for me to update is hidden somehow. I have tried off and on for 5 days to get someone from the company to contact me either by phone or email to give me the secret code so I can undate my information. Try and find anything other than girlfriend.com. Useless. And now, I get an email that in essence states *we are overwhelmed*. It was a robot response to my HELP ME PLEASE FIND OUT THE SECRET TO UPDATING MY ACCOUNT. Watch, I won't get my refund. Which to me, $100.00 is a lot of money. Sad. This could have been a wonderful relationship. Now I wait for customer service not to be overwhelmed and somehow get back to me.
Typically over priced just because of…
Typically over priced just because of its environmental credentials. There are sportswear brands that maintain environmental/ethical principles such as Apexgray that are almost half the price.
Deceptive Shipping Practices
I ordered two items on 1/25/21. Received an email saying the items shipped on 1/26/21. Received another email on 2/5/21 saying that one of the items that shipped on 1/26/21 is out of stock. Wait, what? How can an item be out of stock ten days after it shipped? I asked for the second item to be canceled and refunded since I bought the two items as a set. They said they couldn't refund me for the second item because it had already "shipped". Clearly, it hadn't. I waited two weeks after they told that lie and Fedex STILL has not received the items and starting moving them in my direction. TLDR: Ordered on 1/25/21. It's 2/18/21 and they still haven't shipped my order and they refuse to refund me. I initiated a chargeback with my bank :-)
No integrity
Since Fall 2020, I have bought ~4 pairs of leggings and ~9 bras from Girlfriend Collective and planned to buy more. I bought a bunch of stuff during Thanksgiving weekend and was then surprised and delighted to receive a $50 promo code as a "thank you" during the past month or so. I went to use it right away and had ~$200 worth of merchandise in my cart. The code wouldn't work. I waited a day or so thinking maybe there was just a small problem with the code that would resolve. I tried again and it didn't work so I contacted customer service who told me that I was not eligible to use the promo code and sorry bout it. I was like, "What?" They said that the code was only supposed to be sent to people who purchased things on Cyber Monday and not earlier in the weekend. I was like "Ok but I did buy things that weekend, the language in your email made it sound like this was a gift, and you should honor it." They disingenuously acted like my problem was them sending me an email by accident "We assure you it will never happen again" instead of the fact that they are not honoring a coupon they sent to me. I've been going back and forth with them for a month or so because they don't respond and when they do, they apologize for sending me an email. It's just a dishonorable way to run a business. Also, all those leggings and bras I've purchased are prob ~$700 of merchandise and I was reaching out to customer support to SPEND another $150 (using the $50 promo code on $200 of merchandise). I mean, besides the fact that this is not a way to run a business with integrity, it also doesn't make mathematical sense. Just now they said they are "not able to extend the $50 coupon" to me bc I'm not eligible but they're "happy" to send me a $20 coupon to use. I told them to keep it bc it's the integrity of the thing, not the money. They lost a customer in me and I KNOW they don't care.
Package took two weeks to get here and…
Package took two weeks to get here and was open completely when it was dropped on my porch. Customer service blew me off and told me that I could have $10 off my next purchase which isn’t going to happen…
Loved the pants
Loved the pants, and have always had my items delivered in a timely and correct fashion. I've got some pants from 2019 still, and they've been washed hundreds of times. Very ethical company and they even offer some good sales plus a decent rewards program.
Horrible service take money no product
Horrible service take money no product. Don’t answer phone calls! Emails back and forth for days , no progress order still sitting in hub, contact information unavailable, no refund processed as requested. Need my money back. Never order from girlfriend collection. Not located in the states. Good luck getting order or refund.
